Bringing you the latest in Bitcoin updates, stories, and culture

Hey there,

My apologies for the late delivery of this edition – I was feeling a bit under the weather earlier this week. To make it up to you I've tossed in a fun perk: a lightsats link! Hurry up, the first person to grab it will snag a cool 10k sats! Thanks for staying subscribed to The Faucet, and here are the highlights for this edition:

  • Blackrock Seeks Approval for Bitcoin Spot ETF: Blackrock, the world's largest asset management firm, has filed for a spot Bitcoin ETF, aiming to offer shares that would track Bitcoin's price with Coinbase serving as the custodian. This ETF, if approved, would be the first of its kind, as the SEC has previously rejected all applications for spot Bitcoin ETFs. The move has reignited interest among other institutions such as Invesco and WisdomTree, which have also reapplied for their own spot ETFs. Simultaneously, Deutsche Bank's application for digital asset custodianship and the establishment of EDX Markets, a new crypto exchange backed by Fidelity, Citadel, and Charles Schwab, further underscore the high institutional interest in Bitcoin. • Bitcoin Influencer NVK Criticizes WalletScrutiny's Coldcard Rating:

Popular Bitcoin influencer NVK has sparked controversy by criticizing WalletScrutiny.com for labelling the Coldcard Mk3 wallet as having a non-reproducible build. Fellow Bitcoin developer Matt Corallo defended WalletScrutiny's position, emphasizing that the goal should be that anyone can verify the software that protects their funds. In response, WalletScrutiny re-tested the Coldcard Mk2, 3, and 4 models, maintaining that models 2 and 3 remain non-reproducible, while model 4 met the standard.
